According to statistics from the National Climate Observatory in Zhengzhou, the rain started from 20:00 on July 18 to “stop” at 12:42 yesterday. The precipitation amounted to 102 mm, reaching a level of heavy rain. Among them, as of 8 o'clock yesterday, 12 hours of precipitation was 100.4 mm.

Li Shezong, the director of Zhengzhou Meteorological Observatory, introduced that Zhengzhou's 12-hour rainfall exceeded 100 millimeters. This is the eighth time in nearly 60 years. Among them, a powerful rain appeared on July 2, 1978, and the precipitation was 184.1 mm. This time, the precipitation is the lowest. The most recent one, which occurred on July 14, 2008, was 160.9 millimeters of precipitation.

Even if the 24-hour precipitation exceeds 100 millimeters, it has only appeared 16 times (including this time) in Zhengzhou in the past 60 years.

Li Shezong said that the precipitation is concentrated at 1 hour to 6 o'clock this time, "at 5 o'clock ~ 6 o'clock, rated at 29.4 mm." Although the rainfall during the whole process is very large, the rainwater is “steady and stable” and the precipitation in each hour is fairly ordinary.

He recalled that on August 2, 2007, when the day became dark, only 9 to 10 hours, the precipitation exceeded 80 mm. "Compared with that rain, this precipitation left a breathing space for the drainage network."

Zheng Shilin, chief forecaster of the Provincial Meteorological Observatory, introduced heavy rain to heavy rain in most of the northern and central regions of the province from 20:00 a.m. to 17:00 a.m. yesterday. The precipitation at 17 sites across the province exceeded 100 mm, of which, Nanzhao precipitation was rated at 180 mm.

4 life in Zhengzhou died in the rainstorm

At 6:50 in the morning, near the Hefei overpass, a woman was on the way to work. Because of the serious road area, she walked on the steps of the merchants outside the sidewalk and accidentally touched a store's air conditioning plug-in to get an electric shock. He died after being rescued.

At 10:07 a.m., in an area 200 meters north of Yufeng Road, Zhengyu Road, an electrician found water in the power room at the first floor of the building after work and was accidentally electrocuted in the process of cleaning the water.

In addition, on the evening of 10:40 in the construction site of the Worker’s Lugu River Road in the Zhongyuan New City, heavy rain caused the work shed to collapse, causing two people to be injured. One of them was seriously injured and died after being rescued.
