Trina Solar p-type monocrystalline silicon photovoltaic cell conversion rate increase

China's major solar panel maker Trina Solar announced in late 2015 that its p-type monocrystalline solar cell (power generation unit) achieved the world's highest conversion efficiency of 22.13% in industrial products.

The cell was developed by Trina Solar's State Key Laboratory of Photovoltaic Science and Technology with a size of 156mm × 156mm and a real conversion efficiency of 22.13%. It has been certified by the Fraunhofer ISE CalLab in Germany.

Prior to the record is 21.40% of the laboratory set a record, the laboratory spent about 1 year, the conversion efficiency increased by 0.73 percentage points.

Based on Trina Solar's "Honey Plus" high-efficiency cell technology, this unit is fabricated using positive and negative double-sided passivation methods on boron-added Cz-Si substrates.

According to Trina Solar, at the laboratory level, the University of New South Wales achieved 25% conversion efficiency using 2cm square cells. The industrial level is very close to this record, only a difference of 2.87 percentage points.
