According to the latest statistics released by China Customs, in February 2012, China imported 7,742 metal processing machine tools with an import value of US$1.13 billion, and the unit price of imports dropped by US$146,000.

In January-February 2012, China imported 13,124 Taiwanese metal processing machine tools, which was a year-on-year decrease of 24.9%; the import value was approximately US$1.998 billion, an increase of 13.0% year-on-year; the average unit price for imports was US$152,000 per unit.

In 2011, the average unit price of China's metal processing machine tool imports rose by more than 30%. The unit price of imports continued to increase since November, reaching a high of US$161,000/tablet in January and a slight drop in February, indicating that domestic demand for medium and high-end machine tools remains exuberant.
