At present, the United States needs to import 11 million barrels of oil every day. The US Department of Energy has stated that the U.S. government plans to introduce a new strategy to achieve President Obama’s goal of owning 1 million electric vehicles by 2015. This goal is to reduce the United States' important component of the external oil dependence strategy and also to ensure that the United States has a leading position in the electric vehicle production industry.
