Turbocharged engine will become a trend

A few years ago, "turbocharged" was only a strange term for domestic car consumers. However, with the continuous introduction of policies to encourage small-displacement vehicles, relevant automobile companies have focused on small-displacement vehicles in recent years. In order to meet consumer demand for power and environmental protection, many auto companies have combined turbocharging technology with small-displacement vehicles. Therefore, the new car market presents a trend of “no T”, and automobile brands equipped with turbocharged models are springing up. There is an irresistible trend.

While new energy technologies are continuously developing, traditional engines are constantly making efforts to save fuel, and more and more manufacturers are beginning to develop energy-saving small-displacement engines. In many small-displacement engines, turbo technology is widely used.

A turbocharged engine is an engine that relies on a turbocharger to increase the intake of the engine. The biggest advantage is that it can significantly increase the power and torque of the engine without increasing the engine's displacement. When an engine is fitted with a turbocharger, the maximum output power can be increased by about 40% or more compared with the uncharged turbocharger. It is precisely the high-potential “cheese” of the turbocharged market. In recent years, Chinese and foreign car companies have been hesitating to spend a lot of money and are rushing to develop in order to seize market opportunities.

In September 2012, Volkswagen launched a new generation of beetles, fully equipped with turbocharged engines, with a displacement of 1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI, which are the latest masterpieces of Volkswagen's small-displacement engines. Among them, 1.2TSI is the first in China. At the same time, Shenlong Motors launched the "E-movement strategy," the core of which is to introduce turbocharger technology in China. Among them, the 1.2T engine will be put into production at the new engine plant in Xiangyang in 2014 and will be carried on Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Peugeot's new products.

At present, Ford's domestic models are mainly based on 1.5L to 2.3L displacement. In order to achieve the new fuel consumption limit target, Ford plans to introduce a 1.0T turbocharged engine. The new winged SUV equipped with this engine will be in 2013. Localization in Chongqing. Even luxury cars such as Land Rover and Cadillac, which are based on large displacements, use turbocharging to reduce engine displacement. In addition, the domestic Cadillac ATS will be introduced in October and plans to launch 1.6T models in the domestic market in the future. In addition, GM plans to increase its turbocharged model to 10% by 2013.

Domestic independent brands are not far behind. Under the dual influence of the market and policies, they have been tirelessly increasing their offensive on turbocharged vehicles. Currently, the major auto brands such as the Great Wall C50, Chery Ruilin G5, Roewe 550, and BYD G6 have their own turbocharged power models. The Great Wall C50 is the first compact car equipped with a 1.5T turbocharged engine. The maximum power of the 1.5T turbocharged engine is 98kW (133 hp)/5600 rpm, and the maximum torque is 188Nm/2000-4500rpm. It can completely match the mainstream 2.0L naturally aspirated engine.

When oil prices are higher than one day a day, consumers must pay attention to fuel consumption when buying a car. Judging from current technological trends, turbocharger technology will help reduce the displacement of carts in the future. Engines as small as 1.0T and 1.2T will be carried on new models as early as next year. A survey released by Honeywell recently showed that by 2017, the share of turbocharged models in the global automotive market will increase to 40%. A consumer-oriented survey from Xinhuaxin found that turbocharged engines are not only widely known to consumers, but also have strong demand for purchases. Of the nearly 50,000 respondents who participated in the survey, nearly 80% of the respondents said they understand turbocharged engines. Among the respondents who have a car purchase plan, 60% will consider purchasing turbocharged models.

It can be expected that in the near future, naturally aspirated engines will no longer exist. Instead, supercharged 500cc or more single-cylinder engines with electric motors will be used. The power will be about 100 horsepower. Turbocharged engines will become mainstream in the market. It is beyond doubt.
